Pamela Walker Makowski was admitted to the practice of law in 1981. She joined the Price Law Firm in February 2008 after moving to Columbus due to her husband's promotion with the Ohio Attorney General's office. Prior to that, she had been in private practice on her own in Geauga County for eight years with a lively domestic relations practice, representing both men and women in extremely difficult cases involving issues including financial misconduct, custody disputes and issues regarding voluntary underemployment. She has handled some of the more difficult domestic relations cases in the county in which she was located, and is as capable of pursuing a case aggressively as she is in settling a matter. She also handled matters for small business clients and general litigation. Pam is licensed in the State of Ohio , Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. She has practiced in numerous counties throughout Ohio , including Lucas, Erie , Geauga, Ashtabula , Lake, Trumbull , Summit , Portage , Medina , and now Franklin County and the surrounding counties. Just prior to entering private practice, she managed the Legal Aid office in Ravenna , Ohio , which served poor people, primarily victims of domestic violence. Pam's other legal experience includes her appointment as Assistant Director of Law for the City of Cleveland from 1991 to 1995, where she supervised the legal staff in the Drug House Nuisance Abatement Program. She also handled contract claims and wrongful death cases in that capacity. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Director of Law for the City of Akron from 1987 to 1991 after her appointment to the General Faculty at the University of Akron School of Law as the Trial Clinic Coordinator from 1984 to 1986. She also served as a CLEO professor at Emory Law School in Atlanta in 1987 and was a Public Defender in New Hampshire in 1986. Just prior to teaching at Akron School of Law, she gained extensive trial experience as a Public Defender and Legal Aid attorney in Sandusky, Ohio, where she served as first chair in many serious criminal case, such as attempted murder and rape cases from 1982 to 1981. She started her legal career in 1981 as a staff in house attorney working on anti-trust issues for a Fortune 100 company. Pam has handled a variety of legal work throughout her career, ranging from domestic relations, serious criminal matters, protracted contract litigation, wrongful death cases, Pam earned her law degree from the University of Toledo Law School in 1981. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1978 with a major in history. She completed her college studies in three years. Since graduating from law school, Pam has taken classes at the University of Akron and at Kent State University . Born in Muncie , Indiana , Pam's family was relocated to Lima , Ohio when she was six months old. There she attended St. Charles School and Shawnee High School , graduating in 1975 with honors. Pam resides with her husband, Richard Makowski, who is Transportation Section Chief for the Ohio Attorney General. They have a son, Ben, who attends St. Mary's School in German Village . They live in German Village with their two dogs and four cats, and are thoroughly enjoying their new residency in Columbus . |
